More importantly, that means that on Friday you will be getting great information to help you better understand how your child is progressing in his/her new grade. And, you will have time to help your child meet his/her goals and experience success.
So, here are a few tips for you once you receive the interim report or progress report:
- Interim reports indicate areas that are in need of improvement. Not all students will receive this report. If your child does receive an interim, review it carefully and also look over the grade report that accompanies it.
- Carefully review the grade report to make sure that all assignments have been submitted and that your child is developing timely, responsible habits.
- Ask your child about the assignments. Copies of most would have already been sent home for your review. Talk about school overall---What areas of strength does your child notice in school? What areas are challenging? How are homework routines supporting the challenging areas? Is your child meeting grade level math fact fluency expectations?
- List any questions you have about your child's progress. Your child may be able to help your answer many of these questions. Or you may need to email or call the teacher to set up an appointment to discuss.
- Remember, you have daily access to your child's grades, assignments and attendance by logging into ParentCONNECTxp. If you need a log in, contact the school office.
Importantly, remember that this is the half-way mark and there's time to intervene.Share this positive outlook with your child. Collaborate with your child, and the teacher if necessary, to make a plan for the second half of the marking period. We appreciate your partnership in ensuring that your child has a successful school year.
