Two great things that go great together… going green and beautifying our school!
It is a little known fact that most recycling plants will not accept plastic bottle caps. In fact, if you are sending plastic bottle s to the recycling center with the caps on, someone has to manually remove all of the caps before the bottles can be recycled! Why? Bottle caps are often made from different types of plastic than the bottles. While the individual plastics can likely be recycled, mixing them can contaminate the plastic and lower the value of the product. One way to reuse all those leftover plastic bottle caps is to create a bottle cap mural!
As part of Bodkin’s Green School recertification initiative, we are planning a bottle cap mural. This mural will be displayed in our dreary conference room to brighten and beautify the area for our faculty and visitors.
So, what do we need from you? PLASTIC BOTTLE CAPS! Please start sending in your plastic bottle caps! We will need all sizes and colors to complete our masterpiece. Collection boxes will be placed in each grade group area for students to leave their donations.
Early in 2015, the students will be voting on the picture to be used for the mural, but don’t wait! Please send in your bottle caps today!
