Mrs. Cheatwood’s ALPS Reading class read the book Naya Nuki by Kenneth Thomasma. Naya Nuki is about a Native American girl who was taken captive and forced to march 1,000 miles from Montana to North Dakota. As a follow-up activity to the book, the class researched different Native American tribes around the United States and presented their information to the rest of the 3rd grade students. Their projects included creating Google Slides presentations with a wide variety of cultural information about the different tribes including crafts and games played by the various tribes. Mrs. Cheatwood’s class ended their day by reading other Native American tales to the other classes. Over all, it was a great experience for all the students.
